Regional Radio Star {in training}

It's finally Friday - and yes, I mean finally. It's been such a crazy {but fun} week. We had a big event and a HUGE event at work this week, so when I say I'm a little tired, I think it's completely justified. I have a thousand pictures to go through, edit and post before I leave work today, plus all the other normal things non-event related. I was so tired I almost forgot to wear orange today. Don't worry, Pokes, I remembered. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to a good night of sleep tonight!

When I left you Monday, I was headed to bed so I'd be rested for 7:30 am meetings. Guys, I'm so not a morning person. But, getting to work that early wasn't all bad...
For those of you who don't know, I listen to the Sports Animal all.the.time. I think the Morning Animals are awesome. People know if I'm in my office or not by if they can hear people talking sports as they walk by my door (I've strategically hidden myself from view thanks to constant interruptions while designing). Anyway, part of my job is social media, so when my dear friends the morning animals were having probs posting to their Facebook page and requested help from listeners, clearly I called to help. Lump was so super nice and said my name several times on air and tweeted me back. I won't lie when I say I felt a little important.

On Wednesday, Jersey Mike's wrapped up their Month of Giving with a huge day of giving - all proceeds from OKC locations benefited the Food Bank. I got to go out and visit a few locations to take pictures, and while I was there, I was asked to be on-air with KOMA! I was interviewed about what Jersey Mike's was doing for the day. Clearly after that interview & my shout outs on the Sports Animal, a twitter bio update was in order:

Yes, that reads "Wannabe Regional Radio Star."
Wednesday evening, Matt & I took Thabo on an adventure to Petsmart. Now that he's all healed from a broken bone & surgery, he's quite rambunctious! He did enjoy sitting in this box and chewing the sides of it. I also bought Molly Jo some treats and decorated chew bones to play with, and I'm not sure she likes either - the treats are healthy for old lady dogs (clearly she's going to be bummed for a healthy treat!) and she just stares at the bones and hasn't done a thing to actually chew on them. And they're even decorated in pink. Weirdo.

And yesterday, oh man. Let's just say it was 14 long hours of work and fun. I played paparazzi so of course I'll be sharing some pictures over on my work Flickr account, and I already shared some fun on our Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. The event was at the Cowboy & National Western Heritage Museum (for those of us who are old, the Cowboy Hall of Fame). It's such a beautiful venue, and the event was a great success.

By the time you're reading this, I hope to have edited a few hundred pictures. I'm looking forward to having dinner with my sweet friend Ashley tonight before she takes off on a new, exciting adventure.

If you're in the area, I'd like to invite you to join me for church on Sunday! If you're unable to physically be there, you can watch online here. I'm so thankful that Jesus did indeed pay it all. I'm so humbled to serve such a wonderful, loving Savior.

"Oh praise the One who paid my debt and raised this life up from the dead!"

#PGP: What Spring Break?

So while all the college kids are whining about going back to school this week, I'm wondering what this rumored spring break is you're talking of. The beach, in the middle of March? Not waking up at 6am every day? Oh, yes, it's another #PGP. So, welcome back to reality and enjoy the time you have left in college before joining all the alumni in the working world and thinking Spring Break was something you had to have made up at some point.

Friday night, as with many spring breakers coming back from fun trips, I was on the brink of tears. The bracket I submitted to our office pool was falling to pieces, just hours after I bragged about how well I was doing. Of course. The brightest spot of the night? Watching OU lose and snuggling with my Molly girl. It's the little things.

I finally got my camera back Saturday! It's been in & out of the shop since before Christmas, and they sent it to Canon since apparently the Blue Screen of Death was more than they could handle. I got it back just in time since I have an event this week where I'm playing paparazzi. I've never been so happy to have my camera back in my possession, by the way. Along with picking up my camera, I made a stop at Target to pick up a few things, including this cup that I had to have:

buy one from Target here.

There's not a better way to drink sweet tea than out of a mason jar, and this one is perfect to take everywhere with me! The rest of Saturday was spent playing with Thabo, celebrating Hunter's birthday and watching movies with Matt. Pretty solid day!

If you are looking for a church to attend next week, join FBC Tuttle for the Easter service! We'll also be streaming live at new.livestream.com/fbctuttle. I'm the girl behind the screen, so if you have any difficulties joining the service, just let me know.

Now I'm off to bed, because not only did I not have a spring break, I also get to be at work before 7:30 for meetings tomorrow. Again, #PGP. Don't grow up, friends.

#High5Friday

Happy Friday!! Are you losing your bracket challenge yet? As I'm writing this, I'm in second place in my office pool and tied for second (with like three others) for Matt's Friend Pool (I jumped from last to second in less than an hour, so I'm not holding my breath that it stays this way you guys). Oh the sweet madness.

While I love some me time and I lived alone during college with no probs (well, other than that one time the terrible neighbor kids left fake bloody Halloween decorations on my porch and the police Daddy had to come up in the afternoon at midnight to secure the crime scene save the day - I was a chicken, alright?!), I stayed at home all.by.myself while the parents & brothers were in a hotel for their stock show all week. Not that I'm complaining or anything, but big windows and houses in the middle of nowhere weren't meant for each other. Oh, and when you're home alone, the gas line thing a mile away sounds louder than a freight train and wakes you up more at 3am than your ferocious guard dog snoring pug does. Needless to say, having real adults my family back home last night resulted in one very good night of sleep for this girl. This is a prime example of why I won't live in the country when I finally decide to grow up move out.

What good is a guard dog if she sleeps more than an infant?
After work on Tuesday, I went over to the state fairgrounds - conveniently located about four miles from my office - to help get ready for the next morning's show. Kaden & Kale both showed well this week, and I got to watch them from work thanks to OYE streaming the show live!

It's completely normal to paint your nails at a steer show. #not.
I steer-sat this animal. Like babysitting, only more extreme.
And I didn't lose him!
I don't even reach his shoulders anymore.
After working cattle painting my nails, I had two starving brothers. We traditionally eat at Buffalo Wild Wings during every OYE, so we headed over to B-Dubs for some food...and found a line out the door. The boys decided they couldn't wait that long, so we settled for Cracker Barrel. Growing up, every time we would go to the city with Grandma Sparks we ate at Cracker Barrel, so I have some fond memories of precious time with a very sweet lady. While there, I fed my bow obsession in the form of a new wallet!

Thursday at lunch, I met the fam at B-Dubs for basketball and of course our OYE tradition! At that point, my bracket was still perfectly intact and I was relishing the moment. After lunch, I went back and made sure ESPN was streaming the OSU game to my computer (love, thank you ESPN). Around 4:00 CST, my heartbreak started.

^That didn't happen last night.

OSU lost. In the first round. With Superplayer Markel Smart Marcus Smart on their team. #OneMoreYear. Uncle Boone, please convince him to stay...and for the love of orange, talk some sense into Holder and get rid of t.ford.

Last night right before I went home from Matt's, we discovered his neighbor kids got TP'd - before 9:30, on spring break. Parents: if you're gonna let the kids TP, let them do it at a decent time so that it's not discovered until morning!

Matt's yard collected a drifter.
And today, to put a gold star on an otherwise unremarkable week, I found THE cookies.
I've got the girlfriend of the year award in the bag.
Matt said he needed some of the peanut butter Girl Scout cookies a few weeks ago. I hand't ran into any kids selling them, but thanks to taking a late lunch today, I found a group selling some. I'm holding them for ransom until I can get him to let me video him doing the chicken dance. He didn't know that part...until now! Just kidding, he can have them right away, because the best way to console your boyfriend after a Cowboy loss is by buying him a box of cookies.

PS - thanks Dad, Julie & Grandpa for passing out info on Beef for Backpacks. If you're involved with agriculture & live in Oklahoma, check out some info about it here!

Duck, duck, shoot!

Today, my Pokes are taking on the Oregon Ducks. I'm not going to break down the bracket for you, but I will say I think this top 25 match up is a bit ridiculous and I hope the Cowboys go out there and kick some duck butt.

Sent to me from Matt - how great is this?!
Did you fill out a bracket this year? Who do you think will win it all? Since there are a few more hours before the first game tips, I'm not giving away my bracket secrets (hello, I want to win our office bracket challenge!), but I will say that I don't have my 'boys winning this year, unfortunately (unlike my little brother, weirdo).

Weekend Recap...and a fun linkup!

Hey Monday, you came toooooo soon for me. #dislike

This weekend was 2/3 pretty awesome. Friday/Saturday = great. Sunday, not so much.

Friday night Matt came over, dad made steaks, and we all watched the Cowboys play! Unfortunately, the team decided early in the season that Le'Bryan Nash was going to be the leader, and when he has a bad game, the team has a bad game. #notwinning. But, I made Oreo Pie & momma's friend Cindy was over, and she brought cake and a cookie cake...clearly we had plenty of desserts to help make things okay.

After a great workout Saturday, it was time to finish moving all of Matt's stuff! Not like we've been working on this for almost a month or anything... Anyway. After taking at least two hours carefully moving his bed frame to his storage unit, we were done moving everything and it was time to go get some food. We shut the door to the unit and heard a big "BOOM!" Surely nothing fell and broke...right? Wrong. The bed, which we had finished carefully leaning against the wall so there was no way it could fall, decided to defy us and crash into a million pieces. I think both of us were more annoyed than anything at that point.
Just getting the day started - clearly this happy face was before the Great Bed Fall of 2013! :)
Pardon my squinty face. #awkward
Everyone should have a couch-in-the-truck-bed conversation.
This picture was Matt's favorite.
Thanks to my awkward curling into a ball on the couch pose, it's not mine.
Not at all. Hah.
I spent Sunday afternoon/evening in bed alternating between watching New Girl Season 1, whatever basketball game was on, and sleeping - slash I was battling a crazy migraine that seemed to come out of nowhere. Thank goodness for medicine - even if it is super disgusting, it makes me feel better eventually. This migraine was a brat and wasn't going away easily, but I got some much-needed (although not high-quality) rest.

And now, for the link up, with Veronica from Passion, Pink & Pearls:

Introducing, How to Spring Break in the Working World!

A note from Veronica:
Let me break it down for you. Everyday this week, there are certain Spring Break-like activities that I and I hope many of you will participate in, then we'll share with each other our working world spring break here! Check it out:

Day One: Hit the Beach!
Wear your flip flops and shades. If they cannot be worn to work then break them out at home. Refuse to wear anything but flip flops and sunglasses, that is on your feet and face...don't be going nude yall.

Day Two: Time to Snack it Out
You heard me right, break that diet today! If you were on a spring break trip right now you'd be eating some fried fish and ice cream. So grab your favorite snacks/ "junk food" and enjoy it!

Day Three: Bring on the Romance
It's time you found your spring break fling...and by that I mean find your favorite beachy romance movie, kick your feet back and rest your sweet bum on the sofa.

Day Four: Refresh Yourself
Bring down that dusty blender and serve up your favorite fruity drink, top it off with a tiny umbrella and ask your hunny for a massage.

Day Five: Out on the Town
You've played in the sun and now it's time to bask in the moonlight. Grab your hunny or your gal pals and go do something fun like put-put!

Day Six: Yellow Polka Dots
By now your tan is looking pretty smooth so it's time to strut your stuff in your swimsuit. No matter where you are, put that swimsuit on. If your weather is nice go outside, otherwise wear it around the house and pretend your bed is the ocean. But please friends, don't be wearing it to work, it's probably not allowed and I will not stick up for you in front of your boss.

Day Seven: Pack it on Up
It's time to cram into the car and go home spring breakers aka clean that house and get ready for spring! I know, I know, but we all knew it was coming.

You guessed it,
It's a LINK-UP!
...and some fabulous ladies are joining me as co-hosts!

#High5Friday....kind of.

I'm WAY happy it's Friday.

This week barely even deserves a high five.

It's just been a really.long.week. starting with Monday.

Anyway, 5 things real fast.

On Tuesday, Matt & I changed his oil. Read that adventure here. The good news/high five out of this? His car is still working! We didn't break it!

Oklahoma's weather has been awesome this week. Tomorrow it might be gross again, but for now, it's awesome. My coworkers & I took advantage by having a sunroof lunch!

My March BirchBox came in! It was packed fulllllll of goodies that I can't wait to try!!

The OKC Thunder volunteered at my work yesterday! Read: I was like two inches from Nick Collison. #swoon. No worries, Matt didn't get replaced :) Go watch this video for a peek at the fun. See pictures I took of the day here.
The kids loved the players!
OSU won last night in the Big 12 tourney!!! They play again tonight at 9. While I love this tournament, I'm really just ready for Sunday so I can fill out brackets already. #ILoveMarchMadness

You can't put this on your blog!

I got to Matt's house after work Tuesday anticipating a somewhat relaxing evening that would hopefully consist of watching a movie and playing with Thabo. He quickly burst that happy little bubble when he informed me it was going to be an educational date night. #UmWhat? Good thing I was in an adventurous mood, because otherwise I'm not sure he could have convinced me to go along with his plan.

"So, we need to change the oil in my car."
"Okay, let's go get it done!"
"No, I mean we're changing it."
<Blank stare>
Clearly I was incorrect in thinking we were going down the road to get the oil changed...and a little slow at picking up on that.

Eventually he explained that we - meaning Matt and I - were going to change the oil in his car. Like, no professionals. Since I knew this was going to be blog-worthy, I agreed to "help."

So, off we went to Napa to buy oil and car legs. I'm not actually sure what these car legs are called, but they were leg-like and held the car up. Anyway, we got the car on the legs & Matt crawled under it to get started.

Confident he knew exactly what to do, Matt removed a few screws and a piece of metal and set them aside (also, I was clearly only supervising at this point). We realized something would be needed to catch the oil as it comes out of the car - slowly, according to every youtube video - so before he removed that part, I remembered I had one of the throw-away foil pans I bring him Rice Krispy Treats in, so I grabbed that, both of us thinking that would more than handle it.

He turned the bolt (I think, I actually have no idea as I was more interested in taking pictures and ensuring my shoes stayed clean) and we suddenly had a mini BP spill on our hands.

Not only did the foil pan not hold all the oil, it didn't even come close! Also, there was no "slowly" part to the oil draining! Within a second Matt was asking for something else to hold the oil that was quickly overflowing and going all over the driveway. #whoops. Ooey, gooey black oil, running all over the driveway.

Thanks to a few towels and a trash can, we were able to stop the oil from running everywhere...not to say there isn't a giant stain he gets to clean up. We were both armed with gloves and yet somehow Matt still got oil on his hands, and we won't even discuss how gross he smelled after it was all said and done. You would think he'd been under a car or something...

Why do I not have pictures documenting this entire adventure? Well, I was taking pictures on Matt's phone since I had left mine inside, and clearly he wasn't going to send me anything incriminating, only those showing him hard at work! ;)

1. Matt jacking up the car
2. A Car Leg
3. Matt under the car
4. Matt needing me to hand him a tool (I think)...I was taking my sweet time :)
Well, Matt, it certainly was an educational date night, and I think the main thing we learned is that next time we change the oil in your car we either shouldn't do it on your parents' driveway or we should just leave it to a professional! Oh, and thanks to Google we learned how to clean an oil spill, I think we can handle that one much better than BP did! #PRLessons

Sweetheart VoxBox

I signed up for this super cool thing called Influenster about a month ago, mainly because I love BirchBox & who wouldn't want to receive a box full of free fun! I was selected for the Sweetheart VoxBox, and I received some pretty awesome products that I likely wouldn't have otherwise tried, but I'm glad I did. Read on to see what I got and what I thought:

via
The first thing I saw when I opened the box was the Olay® Fresh Effects "Va-va-vivid" product. I'd just bought a Nutrogena Wave literally four days before, so I wasn't overly excited about this initially. The Wave didn't seem to do much, so I didn't have high hopes for the Va-Va-Vivid. But, since I got it free & had already said "okay I'll review it," I popped it out of the cute little slightly annoying plastic packaging and squirted some of the cleanser on the bristles. Note: bristles - not a disposable scrubby pad. These rubber bristles were soft and squishy so they didn't hurt my face or scrub off the top layer of skin :) I tried it with the cleanser it came with, the cleanser I got from BirchBox and the cleanser I usually use, and it worked fine with all three. I love that I can use whatever cleanser I want and don't have to keep buying refill pads (side eye, Wave), and it's small enough to be able to go anywhere. Oh! And it's battery powered - no charging here. All positives in my book! Needless to say I'm definitely using the bristles off of this. Buy the Olay Fresh Effects V-Va-Vivid! Powered Contour Cleansing System here!

via
The Secret Clinical Strength Stress Response deodorant (whew, what a mouthful) was....interesting. It lasted all day & worked great even through workouts, but that was about all that I liked about this deodorant. I don't like anything too strong, and this was definitely very strong - so strong, in fact, that people several feet away commented on "that citrus smell." It wasn't a bad smell by any means, but I don't love smelling like a lemon all day. In short: it's great for the gym bag but it's not replacing my every day deodorant anytime soon.

via

I'd been wanting to try this for quite a while and I just hadn't bought any, so I was glad to see it in the Sweetheart VoxBox. I don't have the kind of hair that you can just spray something in and it looks perfect; my hair definitely takes a bit of work, so anything to make it look a bit better is a plus. I liked what it did to my hair when I used a curling iron on it then sprayed Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing  Sea Salt Spray (another mouthful!) - it just made it a bit more awesome and texture-y. I didn't like the results of scrunching my hair then adding this - hello frizz-ball! It definitely adds the texture! :) They say you can use it on damp or dry hair, but I've obviously had better results starting with dry hair. It smells good, too! I'll definitely buy this when my {huge} sample runs out (Bonus: it's super cheap. Like, $5 a bottle. Win!).

via
The SkinnyGirl Daily Coco-Nut with Peanut Butter bars were better than I anticipated, but the coconut & peanut butter combination didn't sound too appealing so I'd set the bar pretty low. In other words: I still wasn't really a fan. According to their website, these contain only 180 calories per bar. Only 180 calories? That seems great, until you realize you can instead have a whole bunch of fruit (hello sweet deliciousness) or almost a whole serving of Hershey's Kisses (9 pieces/200 calories per serving). And guys, I like chocolate, so clearly we know what I'd pick. So, these aren't the worst things I've ever tried, but let's just say that unfinished sample bar is as much as I ever intend to eat.
I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

I'm an @Influenster and you can be too! Be a tastemaker for access to perks, products, and offers.

February Birchbox Review

Every month I talk about how much I love Birchbox products, but during February I completely forgot to talk about the products! #BloggerFail Anyway, I got a notification telling me that my March box will be here Thursday, so clearly I needed to get in gear and tell you about my latest goodies!

Lancôme LA BASE PRO
The Lancôme LA BASE PRO is a silicone-based primer. When I first tried it, it felt a little oily on my fingers and I just knew it was going to leave me oily and/or broken out. Not so! It was awesome, easily blended and felt weightless. Of course, when I read the description on the card I quickly discovered it was an oil-free formula, which made me super happy.

Miss Jessie's Original Pillow Soft Curls
I love the curls and volume this gave my hair! I put it in before going to a basketball game one evening and didn't have time to dry my hair before going, and yet it still made fun curls and was an easy way to wear my hair (hello, lazy days). This smells kind of like fabric softener, and the Original Quick Curls smells like lemons, and I definitely prefer the soft clean smell of this one to the strong citrus of the other, although they both work about the same.

Vasanti BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator
This scrub made my face feel so soft! As everyone said in the reviews, it leaves your skin bright (hello, name clues) and happy. I used it by itself and with the Olay Fresh Effects scrubber (which you'll hear about soon in my Sweetheart VoxBox review. Lots of reviews, you guys!).

Color Club Fiesta Collection Wild Cactus
The last two times I got a color club nail polish I was super disappointed - the colors were just gross and the polish didn't go on well or last for any amount of time. I've been wanting to inject a bit of the color of the year in my life, and this seemed like a great way - if the polish was any good. I put it on immediately & went to an AmPo game, where I realized it was the perfect green to cheer on the Panthers. I was quite surprised - the color went on well and lasted long enough for me to take it off a few days later (my nail polish changes frequently). This is definitely a winning color.

Ghirardelli Milk & Caramel Squares
Since these boxes arrived around Valentine's Day, of course BirchBox included chocolate! I always have loved the caramel & chocolate combination, and of course this didn't disappoint.

Want to receive a box full of fun goodies every month? Sign up for BirchBox! It's just $10 a month & you get awesome full size & trial size products.

I'm too old for late night concerts.

I agree, McKayla, I agree.
Alright you guys. The week is back and I realized I've not yet posted my BirchBox review for February (and my March box has already shipped) nor have I said anything about my awesome VoxBox yet! Don't worry, I fully intend to get to those this week, because I got some awesome goodies in both boxes!

Now, back to the weekend. Remember when I told you I was going to the Miranda Lambert show? Well I did and it was awesome!

The Frilly Farm Girl, me & Twin
Before the show, we met at Lori's house to get ready. This involved me doing Lori's hair and Brenna taking selfies on my phone, with our toilet seat hair fixing in the background. No worries, the lid was on. :)

The show was awesome!! Lee Brice opened, followed by Dierks Bentley (swoon) then my pal Miranda. Although I will say, I am way too old for late nights. As evidenced by a conversation about the PRNDL (you know, the gear shift thing in the car?), I was waaaayyyy sleepy by the time we left. However, it was such a fun night with two of my favorite girls on earth, and I wouldn't exchange it for an extra few hours of sleep! :)

Saturday after some gym time (did I mention we had fried pickles at the concert? because they were delicious but definitely needed to be worked off!) I helped Matt move some more! Well, while it wasn't raining. Also, we watched the Cowboys win, and Marcus Smart was named the Big 12 Player of the Year. If only we could convince him to stick around a few more years...
via
Sunday after church I took the best nap of my life - it was at least a three hour nap. I also spent some QT with this cutie, and of course watched basketball. March Madness is my second favorite spoliday after all.
"Just scratch my belly all day & I'll be a happy girl." -Molly Jo
Well friends, I'm off to make the week great & impressive. Happy Monday!
