Weekend Recap

Happy Monday! Just four days of the work week and I get to have a three day weekend, aka my birthday is a holiday in my book and I'm celebrating it by taking Friday off!

In case you haven't guessed, I super love snow cones. So when I had them not once, but TWICE this weekend, I was over the moon excited.

Friday at work we were celebrating our volunteers, and the big boss decided to buy snow cones for employees too! Since I couldn't decide on a flavor, I went with rainbow - cherry, banana and bubblegum. Saturday morning I went to lunch with Lori & Tate, and while Tate was napping, Lori and I decided we needed snow cones again. It was about this time last year she started needing them every.single.day :) I got pink bubblegum mixed with wedding cake and it was perfect.

Also on Saturday Matt and I went to the movies. After much discussion of which movie we wanted to see, we decided on The Place Beyond the Pines. Hello, Bradley Cooper and Ryan Gosling. Well, for a movie that started out promising, it ended like a belly flop into the pool. Thankfully, the day didn't end in a belly flop, too - we had a lot of fun together (duh) regardless of the terrible movie. Even though Russel Westbrook is out for the season (cue tears), his surgery was successful and the Thunder did manage to pull out a W Saturday night.

Sunday my day started when my alarm went off before 4:00 a.m. Every year, the Kennedy side of my family runs the OKC Memorial Marathon 5K (not the full, Matt :) ). Thanks to a slight miscommunication on our meeting place, we got to be at the worship service at the Survivor Tree before the marathon started!

9:01 gate - the chairs - 9:03 gate
The youngest cousins got to "princess run" - aka ride in a wagon!
Before the race, my brothers showed me their love. Kind of.

They're both so much taller than me!

After the 5K, we ate our traditional family breakfast then we (mom/dad/brothers) went to Bass Pro. They have this fantastic idea of outside camping. As in outdoors where the wild animals, frogs and snakes live. #NoThankYouSir. So, they needed to buy a tent. I thought the display tents were puppy-sized. Because puppies need tents too. #not
Molly would be so cute in this. Except we princess camp - slash we don't sleep outside.
After Bass Pro, we went to Remington Park for the races! Yesterday was Extreme Racing, so in addition to horses, they had camels, zebras and ostriches! Unfortunately after such a long day, we were so tired sitting in the sun, so we only lasted a few races (and the horses I picked got last every time. #notwinning). But, it was such a fun day with my family.

Hey stud.

Kale got to pet the camels!

Is it just me, or is he totally smiling?
When we got home, I enjoyed some time outside, getting some sun, reading a book/napping. And then I still went to bed early, because these 5:00 Insanity workouts come earlier every day, it seems.

T-minus 3 days, loves. Get ready to wear your tutu's and get your sparkle on. Or, just wish me a happy birthday and let me be princess for a day as usual.

Friday Favorites

The time where I share my favorite randomness from the week.

Picking up this shirt from Miranda made me want to go for a run, immediately, and look cute doing so. In case you can't tell, that's silver-mirror text, followed by GLITTER text. It's a perfect fitting tank and I'm in love with it. They come in tanks or tees, and in a lot of colors. I just found out she is making another order, for you local girls who want them. If you're not local & want one, I can ask if she ships, and if not, I can order it and ship to you! Email me if you want one!
Bonus: it's a size smaller than what I thought I'd need. Thank you Insanity! #workit

Matt and I took Thabo to the park for the first time yesterday! He had so much fun running free (on his leash). Eventually he got a little adventurous and dipped his toes into the water, then jumped back like a princess. We might need to work on that. He enjoyed climbing up the big hill before we left then running down - not on the sidewalk, of course!

King of the park!

Yes, Amy, you are a princess.

Just watch this video, because I seriously don't have the words to explain how much I laughed.

Don't forget to #ThunderUp tomorrow!! #ShearTheBeard

Also, PLEASE VOTE EVERY DAY FOR THE REGIONAL FOOD BANK TO WIN $45,000 FROM WALMART! :)

#WILW

Good morning! {Or afternoon. Evening. Night. Whenever you read this, I hope it's good!} It's time that I share a few little pieces of sunshine.

1. Speaking of, I'm loving the sunshine
Yesterday was cloudy and gross. Today? It's so darn pretty. It's cold, but I don't mind a bit because the sky is blue and the sun is out. Happy, happy, happy.

see more pretty prints here - I just added new ones!

2. Spark
Mom and I have been doing Insanity for the last few weeks, and working out before the rooster crows at 5:00 a.m. means I need some serious energy because I'm NOT a morning person (just ask...anyone). So, Advocare's Fruit Punch Spark to the rescue! I love it.

3. Garden Ridge
I went into Garden Ridge to buy a cake stand, because, in case you forgot, #Shaes24th is next week, so clearly I needed one, and they had a cute one that can be glitterified for $12. Recently I turned my desk into a hair/makeup area - I never used my desk as a desk anyway, and I was tired of doing my hair on the floor. Well, I needed a lamp for this area, and hadn't been able to find one I liked that wasn't ridiculously expensive. We're talking a really, really tiny lamp - I was not paying $25 for something that small, people. Well, Garden Ridge must have heard my whining, because I found the cutest lamp ever for a grand total of about $8. It's pink and has a white sparkly lampshade, and fits perfectly in the small corner I needed it. Plus, Garden Ridge has these cute little critters who I almost brought home.
I've always wanted a mini pet elephant.
Side note: I've had three good hair days in a row. #winning
4. $45,000
Yes, you read that right. Forty-five thousand dollars. That's how much money the Regional Food Bank can win from a grant from Walmart. BUT to win, we need to be in the top 40 vote-receiving food banks. So, PLEASE CLICK HERE and VOTE for the Regional Food Bank to win. That $45,000 equals 225,000 meals. Imagine all the hungry people who could be fed! Please go vote now! :)

T-minus 10 days until #Shaes24th

The title has nothing to do with the post, just thought everyone could use a reminder that on May 2, you need to use #Shaes24th and do amazing things...like wear glitter, tutus and tiaras, eat snow cones, hang out with fantastic people, and just having an awesome day in general. Anyway, on to the post.

Last Wednesday, I had plans to watch Duck Dynasty hang out with Matt & Thabo. However, in the springtime, Oklahoma likes to throw fits and have crazy weather, complete with tornadoes and flash flooding. So around lunchtime, we realized the bad weather would hit just after we got off work - slash neither of us needed to be on the road because clearly this girl is scared of tornadoes and didn't want anyone out in them. Instead, I went straight home after work to find my mom crawling out of the cellar. A little early, you crazy lady. Come to find out, she was {wisely} cleaning out our little hidey hole so that our family + neighbors could all ride out the storm underground.

Sidenote: mom was smart-ly wearing orange since a smart decision was made the same day by Marcus Smart, Markel Brown and LeBryan Nash that they'll all be returning for another year! Yes, we already bought tickets.
#BringBackTheRowdy
I'm not sure how many of you all are familiar with the May 3 tornado (aka the one that wiped out my house the day after my birthday), but it has our family a little leery of tornadoes. While some crazy brave Oklahomans may enjoy chasing them, we prefer to hide from them. So when the path of the storm pictured below resembled the one from May 3 a little too much for comfort, we headed underground.

Julie wasn't a fan of the cellar & decided to stay on my lap most of the evening!
About the time the hail started, some of our neighbors showed up. Just from opening the door to let them in my brother got soaked! As we sat there discussing who knows what, we realized water was leaking in a bit from the air hole in the corner. Soon, water was leaking in a lot - it was very apparent that the twirly lid had been blown off and there was nothing stopping the rain from coming in! (Sorry for those of you who aren't familiar with "the twirly lid" - I have no idea what it's called but they're on top of like every single cellar.)

My brother took a blanket we had with us and tried shoving it in the hole to stop the water, and as you'll see in the picture on the right, it didn't last! Quickly it got too heavy and fell, letting water rush in. As the corner was quickly flooding and we were imagining swimming in the cellar, dad showed up from work (thanks for missing all the excitement!) and said it was safe to come inside. Thankfully we didn't have to go back down that night!

On Thursday after work, I went over to Aunt Kandi's to help Kiera decorate her lunch pail for school - Friday was the Land Run and she couldn't have a boring, non-themed lunch pail! Since she was dressing up like a Native American, we were sure to incorporate Chickasaw colors and a Native theme to her pail.
Our finished project! She told me exactly
where to put everything and I just glued.

Friday afternoon, you couldn't tell there had been crazy #okwx (<-- follow during storms for humor), so Matt and I headed to go grown-up Easter egg hunting to the driving range. I'm not even sure when the last time was that I attempted to hit a golf ball, so I decided not to take it too hard on myself if I was terrible. Thankfully I managed to hit a few good balls, and should do much better next time :) Even if I would have done terrible, we had such a fun, relaxing time and I definitely hope we spend many more evenings this spring/summer playing!
See? Grown up Easter egg hunting!
After golfing, we were hungry! I forgot to mention that we actually picked up all the range balls we used (they didn't have any and said if we pick up whatever we wanted to hit they would let us golf for free...okay!), so we definitely needed to replenish some energy! In this post I told you about this bubble pizza stuff we made, and Matt loved it so much that he requested it again Friday night! #winning #domestic So, off to the store we went for ingredients. And, since so many people have asked for the recipe, I'll put it at the bottom of this post. :)
Bubble Pizza!
The rest of the weekend was spent laughing at Baby Tate, watching Django, celebrating my Aunt Kandi's birthday, and watching the Thunder get their first playoff W of the season! #ShearTheBeard
Baby Tate was more interested in grabbing the spoon
than eating the food Aunt Hanna tried to feed him!
Molly was so sleepy that she dozed off during the Thunder game (imagine that. #lazydog). She decided her spot was the middle of the bed last night, and I think I might have a small Molly-foot-sized bruise on my hip  from where she kicked me all night. For a small dog, she has quite a powerful kick.

Recipe for Bubble Pizza (adapted from this pin):

You'll need
a greased glass baking dish - a 9 in square would be perfect
1 can of Grand's Homestyle Butter Biscuits (these are the best, trust me - although if you don't, just use any Grand's Homestyle Biscuit...just know you'll regret not using the butter ones.)
Toppings of your choice (I used pepperoni, some full and some chopped up, but bacon or something would be good too)
1 14 oz can of pizza sauce
Shredded mozzarella cheese
Oregano (optional)

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Using a knife, cut each biscuit into fourths and put the pieces into the pan - cover the bottom, but don't try to squish it down. It'll be a little layered.
Put your toppings on top of the biscuits.
Evenly pour the sauce on top of the toppings/biscuits.
Bake for 20 minutes.
Remove from oven, quickly add cheese - as much or as little as you'd like.
Bake for another 5 minutes
Top with oregano if desired. Let sit for 5 minutes to cool, then cut into squares and serve!

We will never forget you, Blake.

Today I wear this button in memory of my cousin, Blake,
who was killed in the April 19, 1995 Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building bombing.
Take a minute today to thank God for another day. Thank him for the family and friends you've been blessed with. Give an extra hug and say I love you a few extra times. And remember with me, if you will, those we lost and those who survived on April 19, 1995.

We will never forget.

Life lately {in pictures}

A quick update, in the form of pictures (because those are always the best).
1. I made a camera strap cover. Not perfect, but I figured out a better way to make it next time...plus it's super cute anyway.
2 & 3. Matt and I had game night and played Jenga. Definitely took me back a few years...so fun.
4. Julie and I enjoyed watching Hunter's baseball game
5. My wonderful daddy bought me a camera lens replica coffee cup
6. Molly snoozed...a lot
7. JerBear played baseball and we all got to go watch him!
8. I took a picture of my great grandma's beautiful ring, passed down to my momma.
9. Mom got a retro phone earpiece thing... and apparently I'm now old enough to have things in my generation be called retro?
10. Matt and I made bubble pizza, and it was delicious. Team work for the win.
11. Julie dressed up in fancy heels I wore at her age and acted silly, entertaining me on a sick day.
