I've thought it was Friday every day since Wednesday, so I'm clearly excited today is finally here! It's been a super fun week though, so let's hand out some high fives :)
1. Marley Lilly had a flash sale! I already talked about how in love I am with the #Merica bow I ordered. Well, my order is processing, which means it should be headed my way soon!
One of the best emails to receive!
2. Thabo visited the dog park! We went Wednesday after work, and Thabo made friends this time :)
He also enjoyed the water and was a little duck swimming (and walking) around like a pro. He's the dot in the middle of the video.
3. All together now...."Awe!!"
My brother's pup, Max. He now likes treats. #oops
4. Last night I got to feed the cattle with daddy. He had me stop the truck in the middle of the field as we were herding our donkey (formerly known as Johnny Appleseed - now called Bugs) so that he could pick me a weed. :)
5. The last high five goes to Pinterest...just for being awesome.
Now it's time for the weekend (well, after a day of work)! It better include a snow cone...and lots of Vine videos, of course. :)
Rather than exciting moments from the week or favorite things,
I have just 5 pictures for you this week.
And one bonus picture, because I couldn't pick just 5 and this one is important:
A wonderful young lady from my hometown went home to be with Jesus last Friday. Pray for those close to her. She was a girl who touched many lives - she had a smile for everyone and loved all people. Those who knew her, even for a moment, will be forever changed by the legacy she leaves behind. Praise Jesus we know she is with Him today! Catherine, you will be missed so much. Also, continue to pray for those impacted by the May 19, 20 and 31 tornadoes in Oklahoma. Rebuilding continues. We are #OklahomaStrong. #HelpOK
It's finally Friday - and yes, I mean finally. It's been such a crazy {but fun} week. We had a big event and a HUGE event at work this week, so when I say I'm a little tired, I think it's completely justified. I have a thousand pictures to go through, edit and post before I leave work today, plus all the other normal things non-event related. I was so tired I almost forgot to wear orange today. Don't worry, Pokes, I remembered. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to a good night of sleep tonight!
When I left you Monday, I was headed to bed so I'd be rested for 7:30 am meetings. Guys, I'm so not a morning person. But, getting to work that early wasn't all bad...
For those of you who don't know, I listen to the Sports Animal all.the.time. I think the Morning Animals are awesome. People know if I'm in my office or not by if they can hear people talking sports as they walk by my door (I've strategically hidden myself from view thanks to constant interruptions while designing). Anyway, part of my job is social media, so when my dear friends the morning animals were having probs posting to their Facebook page and requested help from listeners, clearly I called to help. Lump was so super nice and said my name several times on air and tweeted me back. I won't lie when I say I felt a little important.
On Wednesday, Jersey Mike's wrapped up their Month of Giving with a huge day of giving - all proceeds from OKC locations benefited the Food Bank. I got to go out and visit a few locations to take pictures, and while I was there, I was asked to be on-air with KOMA! I was interviewed about what Jersey Mike's was doing for the day. Clearly after that interview & my shout outs on the Sports Animal, a twitter bio update was in order:
Yes, that reads "Wannabe Regional Radio Star."
Wednesday evening, Matt & I took Thabo on an adventure to Petsmart. Now that he's all healed from a broken bone & surgery, he's quite rambunctious! He did enjoy sitting in this box and chewing the sides of it. I also bought Molly Jo some treats and decorated chew bones to play with, and I'm not sure she likes either - the treats are healthy for old lady dogs (clearly she's going to be bummed for a healthy treat!) and she just stares at the bones and hasn't done a thing to actually chew on them. And they're even decorated in pink. Weirdo.
And yesterday, oh man. Let's just say it was 14 long hours of work and fun. I played paparazzi so of course I'll be sharing some pictures over on my work Flickr account, and I already shared some fun on our Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. The event was at the Cowboy & National Western Heritage Museum (for those of us who are old, the Cowboy Hall of Fame). It's such a beautiful venue, and the event was a great success.
By the time you're reading this, I hope to have edited a few hundred pictures. I'm looking forward to having dinner with my sweet friend Ashley tonight before she takes off on a new, exciting adventure.
If you're in the area, I'd like to invite you to join me for church on Sunday! If you're unable to physically be there, you can watch online here. I'm so thankful that Jesus did indeed pay it all. I'm so humbled to serve such a wonderful, loving Savior.
"Oh praise the One who paid my debt and raised this life up from the dead!"
Happy Friday!! Are you losing your bracket challenge yet? As I'm writing this, I'm in second place in my office pool and tied for second (with like three others) for Matt's Friend Pool (I jumped from last to second in less than an hour, so I'm not holding my breath that it stays this way you guys). Oh the sweet madness.
While I love some me time and I lived alone during college with no probs (well, other than that one time the terrible neighbor kids left fake bloody Halloween decorations on my porch and the police Daddy had to come up in the afternoon at midnight to secure the crime scene save the day - I was a chicken, alright?!), I stayed at home all.by.myself while the parents & brothers were in a hotel for their stock show all week. Not that I'm complaining or anything, but big windows and houses in the middle of nowhere weren't meant for each other. Oh, and when you're home alone, the gas line thing a mile away sounds louder than a freight train and wakes you up more at 3am than your ferocious guard dog snoring pug does. Needless to say, having real adults my family back home last night resulted in one very good night of sleep for this girl. This is a prime example of why I won't live in the country when I finally decide to grow up move out.
What good is a guard dog if she sleeps more than an infant?
After work on Tuesday, I went over to the state fairgrounds - conveniently located about four miles from my office - to help get ready for the next morning's show. Kaden & Kale both showed well this week, and I got to watch them from work thanks to OYE streaming the show live!
It's completely normal to paint your nails at a steer show. #not.
I steer-sat this animal. Like babysitting, only more extreme. And I didn't lose him!
I don't even reach his shoulders anymore.
After working cattle painting my nails, I had two starving brothers. We traditionally eat at Buffalo Wild Wings during every OYE, so we headed over to B-Dubs for some food...and found a line out the door. The boys decided they couldn't wait that long, so we settled for Cracker Barrel. Growing up, every time we would go to the city with Grandma Sparks we ate at Cracker Barrel, so I have some fond memories of precious time with a very sweet lady. While there, I fed my bow obsession in the form of a new wallet!
Thursday at lunch, I met the fam at B-Dubs for basketball and of course our OYE tradition! At that point, my bracket was still perfectly intact and I was relishing the moment. After lunch, I went back and made sure ESPN was streaming the OSU game to my computer (love, thank you ESPN). Around 4:00 CST, my heartbreak started.
^That didn't happen last night.
OSU lost. In the first round. With Superplayer Markel Smart Marcus Smart on their team. #OneMoreYear. Uncle Boone, please convince him to stay...and for the love of orange, talk some sense into Holder and get rid of t.ford.
Last night right before I went home from Matt's, we discovered his neighbor kids got TP'd - before 9:30, on spring break. Parents: if you're gonna let the kids TP, let them do it at a decent time so that it's not discovered until morning!
Matt's yard collected a drifter.
And today, to put a gold star on an otherwise unremarkable week, I found THE cookies.
I've got the girlfriend of the year award in the bag.
Matt said he needed some of the peanut butter Girl Scout cookies a few weeks ago. I hand't ran into any kids selling them, but thanks to taking a late lunch today, I found a group selling some. I'm holding them for ransom until I can get him to let me video him doing the chicken dance. He didn't know that part...until now! Just kidding, he can have them right away, because the best way to console your boyfriend after a Cowboy loss is by buying him a box of cookies.
PS - thanks Dad, Julie & Grandpa for passing out info on Beef for Backpacks. If you're involved with agriculture & live in Oklahoma, check out some info about it here!
It's just been a really.long.week. starting with Monday.
Anyway, 5 things real fast.
On Tuesday, Matt & I changed his oil. Read that adventure here. The good news/high five out of this? His car is still working! We didn't break it!
Oklahoma's weather has been awesome this week. Tomorrow it might be gross again, but for now, it's awesome. My coworkers & I took advantage by having a sunroof lunch!
My March BirchBox came in! It was packed fulllllll of goodies that I can't wait to try!!
OSU won last night in the Big 12 tourney!!! They play again tonight at 9. While I love this tournament, I'm really just ready for Sunday so I can fill out brackets already. #ILoveMarchMadness
Anyway, tonight I'll be running with the fastest girl(s) in town under that Oklahoma sky. Don't worry, we'll be safe and not make any stops at the baggage claim to pick up nobody's fool.
Anyone catching on yet?
Brenna, Lori Jo Twin & I are headed to the Miranda Lambert concert tonight! It's going to be a night of fun with two of my favorite girls. We bought these tickets the day they went on sale, so needless to say we've been counting down for a while. Side note, I think we need to make a trip to the Pink Pistol in the near future, ladies.
What else deserves a high five this week?
Well, Tuesday night I cooked. Shut the front door. That's right, I cooked and everyone is still alive!
Matt requested Pizza Quesadillas, so after a stop at the local grocery store for ingredients, I was ready for the challenge. I also made chocolate chip cookies - from scratch. I'm practically becoming a mini Pioneer Woman. Anyway, my family wasn't so sure about the Pizza Quesadillas at first, but once they saw me making the first one, they quickly warmed up to the idea (even the pickiest eater Kale!).
No pictures, but they're super easy. Lay out two flour tortillas. Spread some pizza sauce (which apparently is also spaghetti sauce? I have no idea) on each one of them - about a spoonful per tortilla. Throw the first one into a pan, sauce side up, add cheese & pepperoni, then put the second tortilla on top, sauce side down. Then just cook them like a normal quesadilla. Matt told me I should definitely add these to my growing cooking resume :)
Another thing that deserves a high five (I feel like I'm talking a lot about food today):
Add some salsa for dipping (I used this kind on Tuesday) and you have a delicious snack. So tasty.
Calving season is in full swing!
This little sweetheart made her way into the world earlier this week. I've been told all that hair is a good thing, and I must say, I love a fluffy little calf! And her pink nose is just too cute.
Last night, the adventures of moving Matt continued, when I rode in the back of his parents' van with his TV. Apparently it was a picture-worthy moment - and I'm not including the one he got of me looking for the "cute little puppy" as I awkwardly tried to hold up the TV and turn to look...at a nonexistent animal. Regardless, it was fun, and the moving will continue Saturday! And the Thunder won, so that is a double win for Thursday!
Other awesomeness this week?
#C25K (aka, running) & tanning at the gym, being sore from Kaden's ab workout challenge & a new blog design & name! Sprinkles & Glitter are totally the it things, in my book at least.
I'm that girl who listens to the Sports Animal all day every day (yet last night Matt still questioned that I had even heard of Kyrie Erving. Really?), and Traber's Be Happy Friday music is always a good reminder that it's almost 5:00...another week survived :) Kidding!
Anyway, I wanted to share a little Be Happy Dance Party with you on this Friday...the Harlem Shake, RFBO-style!
And that, folks, is one of the many reasons I love my job.
In other news this week, my latest Birchbox came in (review coming soon!), I got an invitation to the Phi Lamb 25th anniversary celebration and a new stylus, all on Tuesday! Like, for real, Tuesday rocked.
Oklahoma decided once again to turn into a winter wonderland on #WhatTheHeckWednesday. I'm not even kidding with that hashtag, all day long I just wanted to say "what.the.heck." because everything about Wednesday just annoyed me. It didn't help that Starbucks mixed up my coffee and it was disgusting and they were mean. Or that both the Cowboys and the Thunder lost.
Molly looks as sad as I felt during the OSU game.
On Thursday, Kaden played basketball and won! Tonight I'm headed to another game, so you can expect pictures. Until then, here's a little #tbt magic for you.

And that's it. Happy weekend!
2.08.2013
Happy Friday!
Yes, I like putting "happy" in front of every day of the week.
It makes me more thankful for every day, and reminds me than even Mondays are a blessing.
This was a great week.
How great? I'll show you.
I bought some detangling spray.
I think the last time I used it was yesterday 1992 and I'm really not too sure why I ever stopped. But, thanks to Meg & Caylee helping me brush my hair a few weeks ago, I decided I needed some. This stuff is amazing. Why the heck did little me ever decide to stop using it? Whatever the reason, it is back in my life and made my hair much easier to brush. Oh, and on the hair note, I dyed my hair. I am working on having mermaid hair (in length), and while I will never go full-on red, adding a little red to my brown head works perfectly. And my ringtone is now Little Mermaid. #NoJudging
I made Pistol Pete Mustaches (and Pigs in a Blanket) with Matt.
Guys, Matt knows his Pigs in a Blanket, and he said the ones I made were good,
so this must mean I'm onto something when it comes to cooking.
Oklahoma had some really pretty sunsets.
I pulled off the side of the road (no driving paparazzi here) to snap this picture of the sun
peeking around my Pistol Pete car scent. I was on my way to my grandparents' house,
where we celebrated my Granddad's 70th birthday!! Happy birthday, Granddad!
We had a "throwdown" - shrimp, sausage, corn and potatoes - and it was delish.
Welcome to a special edition of High Five Friday!
It's February 1st, and because I love my blog friends, I made you a present.
(this is #1)
❤❤❤❤❤
actually, I made you two.
(this is #2)
❤❤❤❤❤
I framed these. First printables I've ever made, so don't be too harsh. They're 4x6, but if you love them and want a different size, I'll take care of that.
Oh, you want something else designed, like maybe a card for your sweetheart? I mean really, these are poor examples of my skills, because I just threw them together in like five total. But, I do like to make things. Really pretty things, like this. I hand drew all of the drawings in that link, and high 5 number 3 of the week is that I got several compliments on my drawings from people who are really, really awesome in the advertising industry this week. Nothing like an ego boost when you're in the middle of working on the most challenging project you've ever designed and are really needing some encouragement.
Anyway, back to selling myself. I made Matt's Valentine's Day card. I won't show it here before then, because I don't want him to see it #duh but if you email me at shaeken@me.com, I'd be more than happy to chat with you about making your honey a card. Or, if you don't need a Valentine's Day card, I'm not limited to doing those. I mean, I can do a birthday card, or a "you're my best friend" card, or an "I miss your face" card. Or a "you have stinky feet card." You know, just whatever you want. It doesn't even have to be a card. I'm rambling. So email me. We'll chat.
❤❤❤❤❤
#4: OSU beat Iowa State, and Marus Smart made an amazing half court shot.
❤❤❤❤❤
5: My Caramel Latte with Soy was amazing on Wednesday, and mostly because I work with some awesome people who went and picked up lunch and Starbucks, when I didn't have time to step out of my office for even one second.
1. New U Nutrition {Herbalife}
I stopped by Monday at lunch for a shake & tea, and my comment on Facebook was "hello delicious." Seriously - I had a Reese's Cheesecake shake & a Raspberry Lemonade tea, and it was amazing. I will definitely be going back soon I've gone back every day this week. That good. Find a place that makes Herbalife shakes in your area and try one (this is east of Mustang across from Aaron's on the north side of highway 152, for my local friends). I've tried making the shakes myself and failed miserably, it just didn't taste the same...but their Cinnamon Toast Crunch tastes just like the cereal. I'm more than willing to spend $6 to get to drink a delicious, healthy shake every day.
2. My Birchbox eyeliner
I already talked about this one this week, but I've worn it every day and I appreciate it more each time I see that it's stayed put. That's all.
3. Girls Night
Aka tonight. Caylee is in town and we are staying at Meg's and having a blast. In fact, I wrote this yesterday because she's here right now and if I had to guess what we'll be doing today, it'll probably involve laughing at each other's hilarious stories and shopping for the Pinterest-y sort of night ahead. There's just something about having best friend time that makes my heart really, really happy.
I ordered one of their Long Sleeved Monogrammed T-Shirts on Thursday and I already am planning when and where to wear it. My go-to outfit lately has been a long sleeve shirt, a long cami, skinny pants/leggings and Uggs. Within like 10 minutes of ordering, my shirt had started being processed. They're SO fast on creating and delivering things, so I'm quite certain I'll have it next week...meaning I'll be wearing it soon. #CantWait
5. Liquid Mucinex
I was definitely feeling a little sickly-ish earlier this week. I took off from work a little early and went to the doctor. While I won't get into the hot mess that was the doctor's visit, I will say the advice to get liquid Mucinex was probably the best thing to come out of it. Within two doses I started feeling better. You'd think my sinuses would eventually realize I live in Oklahoma and the weather will always be crazy, and they'd behave. #DreamOn
